ran across lately:

http://videobin.org/code

Code

VideoBin is Free Software, you can install your own version of this site.

It is written in Python, based on Django.

Building on open and free media formats by Xiph.Org

Sweet, and it has still-operational youtube-to-ogg functionality.
Although it only keeps videos online for 2 days
(http://tinyogg.com/about/faqs/#48), so different use cases for the
service than VideoBin, but looks like something that might be more
useful to run on your own servers.

Thanks,

I'm confused, what format are the video streams in this Vimeo HTML5 player?

I would hope the expression would be "keep fighting".

To that end, who's doing something to convince these video providers to
use ogg?

This can happen when we need to educate people about ogg and its importance.
Google want to capture its share in browser market. It has implemented
html5-h.264 video tag. Firefox [cannot/do not want] to implement it. Firefox
has done this using html5-ogg. So basically It is providing a non-standard
evil feature on top on html5.

FSF volunteer and GNU Generation member Osama Khalid just launched a great
tool: TinyOgg. TinyOgg takes in a link to a Flash video (boo!) and spits
out a link to an Ogg video (hooray!).
http://www.reddit.com/r/freesoftware/comments/aou06/tinyogg_liberates_online_flash_video/
Hi Holmes

I submitted TInyOgg to Symlink, a German /. clone
Why you don't spread on /.?

----

mit "TinyOgg turns links to Flash video (boo!) into HTML5/Ogg video
(yay!).""

Fortunately, if you search for "OGG" or html5, there are still several
open ones, most with seemingly no votes against. :-)
